With 50m2 on the terrace, Ms. Hoan has created a garden that many people dream of.
At 9 pm, after finishing the housework, Ms. To Thuy Hoan (50 years old, in Do Son, Hai Phong) had time to set foot on the terrace. She began to water and fertilize her 50m2 garden.
“In the morning, I usually get up at 5am to water the plants to wash away the frost because the house is near the sea. During the day, I am busy with work, only at night do I have time to spend in the garden, ”she said.

In addition, she also regularly provides this dish for weddings and restaurants. The first time the country implemented social gap due to the first Covid-19 epidemic (in 2020), she had to take a break from her business. Having free time, Ms. Hoan researched how to plant trees. She asked for land, foam box and bought seeds… started planting. The amount of land moved up too much, she had to tie the rope to pull it from the first floor to the rooftop. She also makes use of all the foam boxes or plastic buckets to make a place for sowing. The barrel did not punch the bottom, but the edge was about 20 cm from the bottom. After that, she punched a hole in the plastic can and put the can on the bottom of the barrel. The mouth of the can toward the edge of the barrel is chiseled, making a way for water to drain, helping the roots to clear, and less soil wasting. This woman also takes advantage of vegetables, tubers, leftovers and the peels of tubers and fruits to put in barrels, pour the soil on top, then water the rice … to form a green manure mixture. Thanks to this fertilizer, the plant grows very well. “Initially, I intended to only grow herbs, cucumbers to serve the needs of the family and sales, but unexpectedly after 2 years, my garden had all kinds of vegetables, tubers, fruits and flowers”. In particular, her overhead garden resembles an octopus tomato (like a Russian tomato) grown in foam boxes. Every day, this woman cut off old leaves, obscuring leaves to focus nutrients on the fruit. “Tomatoes like vermi-compost and kitchen waste composting microbiological compost. I also water clear lime water, add some NPK when flowering and small fruit,” she said. 
“Tomato trees are wrong because the roots have to eat a lot of soil and manure to grow fruit. I stack 2 foam boxes on each other, poke holes in the bottom so that the roots penetrate the roots down to absorb nutrients. For gardening experience, I often watch and read the experience of growing trees online. Seeing what makes sense, I will start to experiment, ”she added. Thanks to the right techniques and devotion of the garden owner, up to now, her garden has made many people admire. Many friends and neighbors asked about how to plant and apply for seeds, Mrs. Hoan happily shared. “Before, I just sat selling, didn’t move much. Since working as a gardener, I often have to be active, my health and spirit are much better than before, ”she said. Ms. Hoan’s husband is a guard, and the children are busy studying, so Ms Hoan takes care of the garden. Every day I don’t have time to go to the terrace, I miss the garden again. “Later, when my children graduate, I will quit my current business.
